This kit comes in a clear plastic zipper bag with 3 separate sections - one for each of the patterns in the kit. There's only one hoop. It also includes a pair of thread snips and mine had 2 needle threaders (I think I got an extra one by accident). When you open one of the clear bags you'll find a glossy page in color printed with all of the instructions needed to work on the enclosed pattern. The fabric is pre-printed with your pattern and the thread is enclosed on a thread card. Yay! You are ready to rock and roll! The needle for it is taped onto the thread card, by the way. Each kit comes with its own needle (or two) and the thread enclosed for that pattern. Since you shouldn't need anything else to get started, this might make an excellent gift for a young person in my opinion. There are a lot of different stitches to work on here, and I'm just going to have my kid work on the samplers that I got her to first learn various stitches, and then this to practice those on. I'm very excited for her to move on to this next step! Embroidery is best learned through repetition, and hobbies help calm the mind from the "busy-ness" of everyday life.
