Fantastic and comfortable pencil but rubber grip has deteriorated and is sticky

The Zebra Delguard Type GR is my one of my favorite mechanical pencils, along with the Uni Alpha Gel Kuru Toga (comfortable wide and soft grip) and the PIlot Dr. Grip (wide grip similar to the Zebra Delguard). It is very ergonomic with a wide and cushioned grip. The reason I am giving this red Zebra Delguard Type GR a one-star rating is that the rubber grip has deteriorated and is sticky, possibly from long storage in unsuitable conditions. I suspect that is why the pencil is being offered at a greatly reduced price compared to the normal retail price. I find the grip really uncomfortable to use because of the stickiness, but my wife doesn't really mind it. I'm also concerned about whether constantly using a sticky rubber product could cause skin irritation or trigger latex allergy. Unless you don't mind a sticky grip, I recommend spending a few dollars more and getting a pencil with a grip that hasn't deteriorated. You might also consider a pencil with a silicone grip (like the Uni Alpha Gel or the Pilot Dr. Grip) rather than a rubber grip. Most pencils use silicone for the grip material, maybe to avoid a problem with rubber deterioration.
