I like the convenience of testing strips, but I never quite trust the results, especially after Ive had them awhile. Weve had lots of rain this spring since opening the pool, and I really needed something more reliable to dial in the pH and free chlorine. I was happy to get the chance to try this testing kit. It is really easy to use just add water up to the fill line, add four drops of the liquid to its respective side, cap them, invert the whole container once to mix (do not shake), then compare the colors on the chart. I find it easier to hold it up to a white background. It works perfectly as confirmed with a digital pH meter (see picture). To check it, I also tested the water from the tap in my house and got levels for public drinking water. I appreciate how convenient the set up is, too. Everything fits in that nice, plastic box. I went ahead and glued the instructions inside the lid to keep them accessible but out of the way. If you are looking for a simple way to check your pH and free chlorine, this is a great option.

We got these to try switching from expensive scripts to this testing method. Unfortunately, the lack of instruction with this was a bit frustrating for us. Had to come back to the listing to figure out how to use them. If someone is used to using one of these perhaps it is old hat, but it's not obvious to an uninitiated user.

This is the first time purchasing this East Bay pool water test kit. I am not sure I would buy it again for the following reasons: (1) There were no instructions inside the kit or on the outside as to how many drops to use. I had to go back to the ZeeBooth listing to find out it was 4 drops. There were lots of warnings on the box itself about how dangerous the chemicals are and plenty of cancer warnings about them - but no instructions on how to use the product safely. (2) It said on ZeeBooth to put the pool water in the tubes up to the fill line. I could not see any designated fill line on the test kit, so I filled it close to the top of each tube leaving room in the tube to be able to push the small round colored cap into it without pushing the liquid in each tube back out. After you put in the pool water in each tube and add the 4 drops of each color to the proper side, you need to put the two little red & yellow plastic caps on, turn the kit upside down once (dont shake it!) and then see what your results are compared to the color sections on the test kit itself. The caps were tricky to get off and I didnt want to get any chemicals on my hands. (3) The chemical bottles have a dropper built into the cap. I found these caps hard to get off the bottles because they kept spinning. You almost have to twist and pull up on them. Then when you close them back up as you screw them down they kept spinning some more and I wasnt sure if the contents were going to leak out later or what! To me this is VERY shoddy packaging of these cancerous chemicals! When I buy another brand test kit, I will look to see how well the chemicals in that kit are packaged and if the bottle caps screw on correctly - and whether they have user-friendly instructions included.

Pool test kit, is a nice unit.
