Just what I needed for a project I was working on. They worked great.

Immediately put these to use when I got them. I plan on ordering another set for larger boxes.

Low quality. Easy to insert. Too easy. Did not fit snug enough to line up drill points. As an example, the .500" unit is .472" in diameter. This means they fall easily out of the hole and result in holes not perfectly aligned. When putting in dowels, this ends up causing serious problems. The units were packed randomly in smaller bags, ended up with 5ea 1/4" and 7ea 3/8".

I bought 2 sets of these 'cause I needed 12 of the 5/16" size to accurately dowel a frame to a table top. Having tried it with only 4 centers in the past is just a bother. I drilled all my hole in the frame, put the 12 centers into the holes, carefully placed the frame on the table top bottom and with a few mallet swats the centers accurately gave me a drilling pattern on the table top. Really neat, quick, and easy. The only issues I have with these is that they are hollow and might get deformed easily, and the rim around the top of the centers has rounded edges instead of flat edges. Since the centers fit tightly into the drilled holes, the rounded rim edge makes the pliers slip off and this makes them hard to get out of the hole. I am thinking I might take one of the 1/2" centers, chuck it up in my mini lathe and see if I can knock the curve off of the rim to make it easier for the pliers to grip. However, I would certainly recommend these to anyone who is looking transfer dowel drilling locations between 2 boards.
