I have found garden shears or scissors to be very useful, mostly for trimming cut flowers. This kit offers some cool additional tools that you may have use for, especially if you have roses. The metal thorn stripper is heavy duty. The plastic thorn stripper is a tool I am not familiar with but might be useful for smaller thorns than the metal tool. The gloves are sturdy, nice fit for smaller hands, and the dipped protective coating is a useful feature.

I'll start by saying the gloves are just OK. They aren't really what I would call rose gloves. The backs of your hands aren't protected at all and the palms just minimally so. These gloves are better suited for dirt work. The thorn strippers work, but it's just as easy to trim the thorns off with prunes, in my opinion. I adore the scissors! They are super sharp and fit my smaller hands very nicely. I carry them everywhere in my garden and use them all the time. The Scissors alone are worth the cost of the set - the additional pieces are bonuses.

I do not have rose bushes, I wish I did, but I am trying to buy more flowers from the bodega/market. (Treat yoself!) So for my uses, these will be fine. The scissors are not Japanese garden tool quality but they do the trick - only try to cut one stem at a time or they won't work. They are basic shears. Sharp enough but likely won't hold an edge for long. For me, it's fine and I don't have to use my kitchen shears or my paper scissors now, so that's good for me. The green plastic/rubbery piece I think is for leaf removal. I haven't had to use it yet. The metal red piece is for snapping off the thorns and it's working well. Easy to use as well. The gloves are better than I thought they would be. The protective rubberized coating on the palms is more substantial than I had thought but I'm not sure how long they will last in a rose heavy garden. For my uses, they are fine. I have a medium hand and they fit fine. If you have large hands, they may not work for you. If you are rehabbing a Secret Garden filled with rose bushes, this might be too basic of a set to do you any good. If you are occasionally cutting a bouquet of roses, this should be fine. (And I'm jealous of any rose bush owners!) At the price of $14.00, it's a bargain. You might find that the green thing isn't the tool you are looking for but the red one is good. The shears I like to have a pair that's just for plants. And the gloves seem good so far. Bought separately and you would spend a lot more money.

Love this kit, its amazing. I got this to use with my rose bushes, I really like having fresh flowers in the house. This kit made it so easy to cut the roses and strip the thorns. The gloves were great, no thorns went through them. I wear a medium glove size and these were perfect. The scissors weren't the best, the stem kept slipping out as you closed them but the stripping tool is amazing and totally worth it. You do have to use two hands and push the stem in while cutting. I was able to cut and strip the roses quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend this kit.

This little tool kit is indeed handy for doing battle with thorny rose bushes. The blades on the cutting tool (scissors) are sharp and cut the stems with ease. The stripper (red tool) is also easy to use, and does a splendid job of removing both leaves and thorns. The green plastic grabber is equally handy because it enables one to grab the rose stem without being attacked by unfriendly thorns. Now, the gloves fit my size seven (7) hands with ease. In fact, they fit slightly loose, and the fingers are a bit too long for my long fingers. Most likely the gloves will fit both smaller and larger hands because of the stretch in the top and wrist. The gloves are thin, and I have not done extended testing on them yet, but if one is doing extensive rose bush pruning the gloves might not be adequate because of the lack of thickness or padding. The palms and fingers do have a rubberized coating that supposedly hinders thorns from finding their way through gloves and into fingers inside. I was so excited to see something advertised that might make dealing with beautiful roses and threatening thorns a bit less stressful. I wanted to try these cutters and gloves for two reasons. Firstly, I am frequently given beautiful long-stem rose bouquets with leaves and thorns attached. I always remove most leaves while trying not to be intimated by the thorns, but I always come away with at least one thorn prick that remains sore for days. Maybe, this thorn stripper tool will alleviate this problem.
