They do what they need to, and fit a 1/4 drip line just fine. Because of how firm the valve is, they will require two hands to turn unless you have this valve secured to something. Just to be clear, it doesn't take much strength to turn the valve, but you will twist your line if you try turning the valve with just one hand.

I ordered these to use in my garden, particularly pots and raised garden beds. The price is great, but not all the valves work.

I tested these using a small squeeze bottle attached to a firm rubber inch irrigation tubing. In use these will either be set at the end of inch tubing which comes out of a connecting barb that goes into a inch firm rubber irrigation tube. Or, the other way I might do it, (granted professional might not do it this way) is to punch a hole in the inch irrigation tubing and insert one of the barbs of these drip valves into the hole. These tiny drip valves can take water in from one side. The top orange piece when lined up with the barbs means full flow out the barb on the other side. Then by turning the orange top piece from 0 to 40+ degrees one can adjust down the amount of dripping flow. Turning to a full 45 degrees would be shutting off the flow of that particular valve. The color contrast is very helpful in visualizing how to turn to change the value position. The barbs on each value are not pointed nor sharp. When using a very firm rubber tubing I have no issue inserting the valve into the tubing. I have some irrigation tubing that I believe is also inch, but the rubber material used is very soft, so I am not able to insert these values into such soft tubing. I find these drip irrigation valves to be easier to adjust that some of the other ones I have purchased in the past.

First, I have to admit that at the purchase price of $15.99 for 50 shut off valves, I had low expectations. When I received the bag, I tested all 50 of these fittings. I blew air through them when the valve was open and then I closed each valve (not ridiculously easy to do but more than doable) and tried to blow air through each of these valves. I actually need all of these to work and didn't want to bother installing any of these if there were any issues. ZERO issues. The valves work as I would have expected. I want to point out that the valve closes before it is completely in the "off" position, not an issue but worth mentioning. I am very familiar with drip irrigations and have installed several zones. Working with tubing can be a bit of a struggle, but these were easy to install. I cut the existing 1/4" supply line and used a heat gun to warm up the tubing and then slid the tubing over the shut off valve. Super easy to do and these work well and the price is an absolute bargain.

I got these to install on each feeder line on my hydroponic system, to control the water flow. First off, these were extremely hard to open and close. And 33% (5 out of 15 tested), did not work. They would not shut off the flow. Returning them as I don't want problems after installation.
