I was looking for a replacement for my old tattered and stained "ov-gloves" and came across these...I liked the fact that they were a bit longer, and had silicone gripper surfaces so hot pans wouldn't slide. They arrived shrink packaged in a flat shrink-wrapped box "Here to make (my) day better." I cut the wrap off and watched then expand to full size....they were only available in "large" and yes, they are quite roomy. Really large. If there was a smaller size I would have ordered that, as these are at least a size too big (note bulge is last photo)- but maybe they will shrink a bit when they are washed. Aside from that, they aren't scratchy to wear, and the silicone grippers were great - I lifted a smooth hot metal pan out of my convection oven with no slippage at all. Also, since they are black, I doubt they will show any stains like my previous oven gloves did. So, they do what they are supposed to, and will fit the bill - especially if you have really large hands!

The media could not be loaded. If you watch the video, I pull out a loaf of bread baking in a metal box from a 400-degree oven. The bread was baked on a sheet tray at 400 for 40 minutes. The gloves worked perfectly to take the bread out of the oven. In the video, you can see that I rested my hands on top of the metal box for quite some time. This is something you'll never do in real life using these gloves. They are used to basically pull something out of an oven and then put it on the counter. If you hold onto something hot like a tray or the metal box you'll feel the heat but it's not going to burn you. Would I trust this at over 1000 degrees which is what it's rated for? Perhaps only for a second or so. If there is water or steam you'll burn in time because the steam is hot and it will penetrate the cloth. But all-in-all these gloves do what they say they will go, they fit very well and so for those reasons and the proof, I give it 5 out of 5 stars. When you need control of an item you're pulling out of the oven, this is the best way and these gloves work.

If you believe in the description, I should be able to put my hand in a lit up barbecue and not feel any discomfort. But holding a tray right out of 350 degree oven iwas uncomfortable enough. I do not want to take my chance with hot grill\.

These gloves are super heavy duty and will protect you up to over 1400 degrees F. I often use a separate grill pan on my gas grill to cook smaller items like shishito peppers or onions. Now I can safely lift that pan off the grill without fear of getting burned. They look huge, but I am a 69-year-old woman of average size and they fit me fine.

I have large palms and short fingers. They don't fit me well. I expect I won't use these as much as I thought because of fit issues. If you have large hands and long finger this will fit great. I can still smell the fire retardant after having them open for over a week. I'm not surprised I can smell fire retardant, the selling point is the fire retardant but it's stronger than I'd like.
