These are really lovely, sturdy shears. Only time will tell how they hold up, but so far they've worked great to chop the heads off of cured hardneck garlic and do some general basic garden pruning. They seem to be remaining sharp and they cut well. I intend to use them mostly for pruning annual vegetables such as tomatoes and melons, so the straight blades are perfect for getting into tight spaces without injuring delicate plant tissues. They do require some grip strength to use, which is not a problem for me but may be a consideration for others. The wooden handles are well-turned and quite ergonomic. I like the latch that keeps the blades closed when not in use. So long as I remember to give these shears regular maintenance, I think they'll last for years to come.

This review is for the 8.01'' Straight Blade Scissors. They are decent garden scissors. The longish set of blades is blunt tipped so I don't have to worry about skewering leaves and stems in my approach to the cut I want. The spring action opens the blades as soon as I relax my grip allowing me to do the whole motion one handed. The other hand stays free to hold branches back to enable my approach, or onto something for balance. When I'm all done the scissors lock closed for storage. They produce a sharp and smooth cut, just I was hoping. The wood in the handles is smoothed but not otherwise finished and the metal of the blades on the back side (not the cutting surface) has some small rough chinks. I'll likely smooth them out myself with sandpaper, a file, or both but would have preferred that had been done prior to shipping. I do like that there is no plastic, giving them a rustic look that reminds me of the poultry shears my mother had in the kitchen.

I work at a flower shop, they are perfect sized for my hands. I have bought numerous pairs of them.
