Crimped Wire Wheel Brush 4in 5/8-11 Threads Arbor for 4-1/2" Angle Grinder - 2pcs...

I use this wire wheel to prep rusty steel surfaces for welding and also to remove the flux from arc-welds and flux-core MIG welds. It works GREAT for this. Don't get your finger in there while it's spinning though, because it is a beast! It just barely fits inside the grinder shroud on my grinder (a harbor freight generic model). This think is well built and, so far, has stood up to many cleanup tasks (couple dozen at least, mostly heavy sheet metal and structural beams). Solid 4 stars. Highly recommended.

I have the DeWALT angle grinder DWE402, which turns at 11,000 RPMs. This brush screws directly onto the grinder's arbor (as opposed to a cutting wheel which is held on by the big round nut). I used the wire brush to remove the loose paint and rust from the diving board stand at our neighborhood pool. For that job I recommend goggles and long sleeves, and maybe a balaclava, because the debris really flies. It was very satisfying to see this brush clean off the loose stuff so quickly. The remaining surface was smooth and ready for painting. I used DTM paint so...one and done. This brush takes a certain knack to do effective cleaning without bearing down too much. I found that with the right touch, the bristles were mostly fine, with only a few deformed or damaged. I would call this brush semi-disposable, realizing it will eventually lose its shape and need replacing. Very pleased with the quality and performance so far.

If you have an angle grinder in your garage, you know how versatile a tool it can be. But, it is only as useful as having the right attachments for the right job. Have some projects coming up that will require some light rust removal/surface preparation and picked these crimped wire wheels up to do the job. They did not disappoint. Loaded on to a cheap HF grinder. The 5/8 x 11 thread fit perfectly and snugged down nicely. As you can see from the photo, the wire wheel fit within the guard. Spent about 90 seconds giving the business to a pretty neglected grease catch pan from a grill. Used only modest hand pressure on the tool. As you can see in the photo, removed the paint and surface rust with no problem and did not beat up the metal (stamped mild steel) in the process. Very satisfactory result. The wheels themselves appear to be reasonably well constructed. In my limited use so far, I have not encountered an excessive amount of wire breakage or fling. The product dimensions quoted by the seller in the description are accurate. I would rate the wire wheel as medium coarse. Keep in mind these, like all crimped wire wheels, are designed to remove light surface rust, paint, scale, and the like. They are not designed for heavy material removal get the twisted wire wheels if that is what you are needing to do and use them first. Then follow up with these crimped wire wheels for a better finish. You should always employ PPE when using a hand grinder and especially so when using wire wheels. All such wheels, these included, will lose wires over time while in use and at several thousand rpm, you dont want to be the target. A full face shield, gloves, long sleeves, and a leather apron or other body protection are de rigueur when operating a grinder. All in all, I believe the product rates a full five stars. Not because it is the best angle grinder wire wheel ever, but rather because it is accurately described, well-constructed, effective when used properly, and offered at a budged friendly price point. It works with my drill

An angle grinder is one of the most versatile and useful tools you can have in your workshop/garage. But any grinder only performs as well as the disc you put on it. My wife has a short-handled hoe she got from her mother many, many years ago. It is well-worn, the handle having broken on it and taped back together with a screw and duct-tape. (No, it was not me who repaired it . That was done before my wife got it.) But the handle recently broke again so I fixed it differently. While I had it apart, I wanted to remove the rust and other debris from the hoe. That is why I ordered these knotted-wire brushes. I included a couple of Before and After pictures of the brush I used to show its wear and tear from the job of burnishing the hoe. I have also included the same type of pictures Before and After of the hoe itself to show the results this brush produced. The before and after pictures of the brush clearly show a little fraying on the ends of the knots, but nothing significant. The before and after pictures of the hoe show less clearly due to the lighting in my garage and my lack of photographic skills the rust and debris removed with a slight burnishing of the metal. It took me about 10 minutes to do this. Since my intention was to clean the hoe and polish it a little, I stopped at this point. I believe if I had continued to burnish the hoe for several more minutes say 30 minutes using this brush much of the bare metal would come through. What I like 1) These brushes fit my 4-1/2 grinder. 2) The wire is firmly secured on the hub. The brush lost none of its wires during the grinding process. 3) The price is good. At the time I ordered them a 2 pack the price was less than $5 each. There is really nothing I do not like about them or find defective or deficient. I recommend them.
