The electromagnetic radiation sensor is on the front of this device, but it wasn't always clear to me what the source of the EMF was. I was walking with this on and the reading suddenly flipped into harmful range (along with beeping) and the dropped back to nothing within a second. Rocking back and forth, I could stimulate the beeping reading, but it generally stayed at 0. Since I was in the middle of an empty room, the 0 reading seemed reasonable. I can't decide if the harmful flick is a wrong reading or what. Which brings up my other nit-pick. It's hard to read the exact EMF reading since the numbers are constantly moving. The beeping and green-yellow-red scale could be for either EMF. If you just want to know if it's a harmful level of EMF, this is fine. If you want the exact reading, that's harder to figure out. Finally, the advertising says, "this EMF detector can test three types of frequency, radio, electric and magnetic." Yet I can't see a radio reading, only: "V/m" for electric field radiation and "mG" for magnetic field radiation. UPDATE: I've come to realize that this is just a very sensitive device. My other EMF reader kind of averages things so it's easy to read. I was testing a Pulsed EMF device to see how far out the effect was, and the averaging meter had trouble because it's a pulse--here, gone, here, gone. This Mamtopia device clearly showed the PEMF getting stronger and decreasing as it pulsed. It was very useful for seeing the pulsed device "in action" and that may be what it was picking up before: pulsed EMF rather than a constant source.

Im giving it three stars because it does warn you if you are near something emitting radiation or EMF but the numbers are all haphazard and change so quickly and randomly Im not sure what the proper reading is. All I really care about though is if the levels are harmful and if there is radiation detected in a certain area of my home or coming from a devices.

The media could not be loaded. You must be either concerned or confused about Electromagnetic Fields (EMF) or you wouldn't be looking for an EMF meter. It's a confusing subject, but this little meter is not confusing at all. Push the button and point the meter at anything electrical and this little guy gives you instant feedback. It's either "Safe" or it beeps at you and lets you know it's "Harmful." Simple. That decision is based on the best guesses of the scientific community at this point with a fudge factor built in, just in case. But it also gives you more detailed information if you want it. It tells you how much voltage is present, listed as V/m (volts per meter) and how much magnetic radiation it's reading, listed as "mG" (milli-gauss). The numbers only matter to geeks and electricians, but they might matter if you want to communicate just how much EMF you're dealing with. It's pretty sensitive, reading from 1 to 999 V/m and .1 to 999 mG. The bandwidth runs from 50Hz to 3500 MHz. All those numbers mean that it can read almost any type of EMF radiation you're liable to run into in the home. It might not read your router if it's one that runs at 5000 GHz, and it probably won't read anything related to 5G cell towers and equipment. Other than that, it's good to go. I pointed it at my old analog microwave and got quite a shock (pun intended) when it read some serious voltage when it was turned off and went off the charts on the magnetic scale once I turned it on. I literally had to back out of the kitchen before the detector shut up (see video). I'll probably be looking for a new microwave. The rest of the house is okay, but I won't be standing over the microwave waiting for my tea to cook anymore. That alone is worth the price of admission. Nice detector. Decent price. It's a keeper.

Easy to use with bright lights and beeps that indicate the presence of electric and magnetic fields. There is a way to silence the beeping if that bothers you. This is easier to use than some EMF meters since the range of harmful is so clearly indicated. Even a child can use this and understand the readings. Using this meter you can really appreciate how much EMF fields drop off over distance. Finding a harmful reading then reorganizing your space to increase the distance to a safe level seems a small hack for the peace of mind. This is rechargeable and operates for many days on one charge. Small and portable with a lanyard to hang it around your neck. A great gift for expectant moms, kids interested in science or just anyone wondering about the EMF fields around them and how moving slightly farther away can really make a difference. Eye opening.

The media could not be loaded. Not quite sure how to make interpret the differences, but DEFINITELY there is a MAJOR gap between alert readings of two meters I tested side by side. It appears that this pink Mamtopia meter tends to be a bit more touchy / sensitive almost paranoid about some readings... yet in other places where another meter raises alarm, this one says nothing. That's a serious concern, to not know if the readings this meter is showing are accurate and to be trusted. If indeed it's going to point out problem areas, it can be very useful. But just to go off randomly isn't a good plan. One thing I was able to verify is that it consistently alerts and alarms around microwave energy, (although the LEVEL of alert seen is about TEN TIMES what I see on other meters, so I can't trust its sensitivity...) In areas considered SAFE levels of background radiation... this one IN GENERAL agreed with that assessment. But when it does start firing off an alert, that's when things get a bit odd: this meter usually tends to be FAR MORE SENSITIVE or paranoid and shows much higher level than is present. Thus... I leave it to the user, to decide if these readings are useful. For my view, it's say accuracy is also important so I give it 3 out of 5. Your mileage may vary . . .
