This planter came well-packed. Judging by its design, oriental orchids will be a perfect fit. Also, any ground orchid with an extended rooting system will work very well in it. The color and design of the pot were just the same as in the product images. The bottom had many holes for good drainage and the raised legs would provide good ventilation for those holes. The pot is very lightweight so if you were to use it with lightweight mediums, such as moss or bark, I would recommend placing orchid stones/rocks in the bottom to add some weight to it.

I got this for my son, whose girlfriend is from Shanghai. He likes having things with an Asian design around him (since she hasn't been able to come to the States yet) and I thought he'd like this vase, too. It's really more of a planter, because there are watering openings in the bottom, in case you wanted the water to drain off a live plant, as well as a removable bottom tray (to catch the excess water). I just have some artificial white impatiens in it now, and it looks stunning. Love the resin, because I don't have to worry about him knocking it over and breaking it. And it also makes it light. I'm sure that would change a bit if you fill it with dirt, but we're not green thumbs here, so artificial plants (which don't need dirt or water!) keep it all lightweight. Nice design with the dark brown and gold writing. He said he'd ask her what it says, but I have to give it to him first so he can photograph it and send the pix to her. I love it and am glad I ordered. It's a good size, too. Neither puny nor enormous. Very stylish and not heavy, if you're giving it to a college student for their dorm or first apartment. Love it. A+ for design and utility.
