Great additon to my garden tool collection! These have smooth action, clean cut (which is critical for plant health), nice spring action and handy lock accessable to use while holding (meaning it doesn't require two hands. These seem robust and built to withstand repeated use. Will update once used significantly.

My wife is a Florida master gardener and takes her gardening seriously. She typically samples the tools used by our local botanical garden and buys the tools they use if she likes them. For pruners, she's used pretty much all the better brands, including ARS and Saboten (which are her two favorites), Felco, and Corona. These pruners are fairly lightweight but not as robust (or as costly) as the best brands. The grip is comfortable (though one came off but was easy to put back on), the blades are sharp, and they could cut most of the stems she tried to cut with them but struggled with thicker woody stems, even a Jatropha that was around 1/2" diameter. The product description claims the pruners can cut 3/4"-diameter branches, which it probably can, but you will have to use considerable force and it would be a chore if you needed to cut many branches that are that thick. By comparison, my wife's ARS HP-VS8Z pruners can cut that diameter branches easily but cost around twice as much as these. My wife feels these are perfectly adequate for woody stems less than around 1/2", comfortable to use because of the cushioned grip but don't have the feeling of solidity and quality that ARS pruners do, though that may be something people don't care about, especially if they have never used ARS or other high-quality pruners. The problem my wife found with all pruners is that they get dull within 6-12 months, though that depends on how much you use them. She didn't know how to sharpen them and her instructors at the botanical garden, who also don't know how to sharpen pruners, just buy new ones when their pruners become dull. But it's not their money--it's our money as taxpayers. So, after writing this review, I've encouraged her to adopt the care instructions that ARS provides, including sharpening, so that her ARS pruners last longer. It's also possible to buy replacement blades, which cost less than half the price of the complete pruner. If you don't want to pay the higher upfront cost of high-quality pruning shears and don't need to cut thicker woody stems frequently, these should do the job and save you some money. If you do a lot of gardening, need to cut thicker woody stems and like high-quality tools, you might want to consider ARS or other high-quality pruners and maintain them by keeping them clean and dry, using a blade cleaner, using a sharpening stone or file, and buying replacement blades as needed. If that's too much trouble, cheaper pruners that you dispose of when they get dull might be a better solution.

I've used a lot of shears over the years and found that the slightly more expensive, quality ones are worth getting. These fall into that category. The shears open up wide enough that you can cut branches over 1/2". The blades are sharp and the blade lock easy to use. The handle is slightly curved, fits the hands well, and is padded - so my hands won't get sore after cutting many branches. The spring works well so that the blades automatically return to an open position after a cut. I'll be doing a lot of pruning on my Japanese maples this winter and this is definitely what I'll be using.

This pruner seems very well made. It is heavier than other cutters that I have (name brand) which makes them feel sturdier. The blade is very sharp and cut small branches easily. The spongy covers on the handles feel good. My experience with this type of handle covers is that they eventually tear. Not sure if replacements are available, but looking at the handles under these sponge covers, they look like other pruner handles so these JOWBOOW pruners will work just fine without them.
