Still getting the hang of how to best use these, they are not so good with some weeds and just seem to cut them rather than get the root up, but better with others that don't have as strong or deep of a root system. The tools themselves are solidly built, easy to hold, and the tines are sharp.

There's not enough length to the tines or leverage for alfalfa or deep rooted weeds. They do feel safer and more comfortable to use than a garden knife for digging out weeds, but they also aren't as versatile. They're well made and strong. I particularly like the stainless steel handled one. They're also easy to clean and each has a snap on pvc cover which provides some protection again accidentally puncturing your tool pockets or carrier. I've found that I primarily use the stainless handled one to while searching for pests both on the leaves and around the base of my plants just because the smaller head gets in tight spaces and the tines work like a cultivator a bit. I do have a single tool that accomplishes everything these will do and then some. It's a nice set of tools with a limited range of uses.

I have 6 vegetable garden beds, so keeping up with weeding can feel like a full time job. But this tool is handy to have in your arsenal against unwanted plants. The tool is finely crafted, and looks more refined than a lot of the weeding tools out there. The handle is comfortable, and both the point and the tines of the tool are sharpened, which makes this a versatile tool! You can scrape, till, and dig all with one tool. If the weeds are young, you can simply scrape them off the soil without worrying too much about them coming back. Having the sharpened point allows you to dig to get more significant roots, or even just cut them up underground. The sharpened tines allow you to dig in a bit when youre scraping weeds that have started to put down more roots. And the whole tool is good for loosening the soil and spreading it evenly again. I have found that the tool works best is the soil is moist, but not too wet. If the soil is dry, you end up just breaking the weeds off at the ground, potentially leaving active roots to grow again. If the soil is too wet, you pull up as much mud as you do weeds. In my photos, you see my bed with peppers that has become a little overrun with purslane (which some people cultivate for its nutrients, but it sure grows like a weed!), tree seedlings, and crab grass. It only took me a couple minutes to build the big pile of weeds that you see in the photo, and the resulting after photo shows how much better the bed looks! Handy tool!

I must be using these wrong. What I had in mind is different than what I have experienced with these. The set I received are so sharp that they are very good at cutting the weeds off at ground level, instead of pulling the weed out root and all. I am using them in a field behind my house on terrain that doesn't seem unreasonably compact, so I am just shrugging my shoulders a bit and thinking maybe my yard just isn't well suited for these. I did try using in my raised bed with soft soil and got better results, but that seems like a false positive because soil is so soft its just as easy to grab with my hands and pull. In any event, sure these are good at cutting weeds but if you're looking for a hardcore solution that will yank big weeds out of the ground, you might consider something a little duller. But on that note, make sure you don't leave these somewhere young kids can reach -- they are seriously sharp and I can see them causing accidents if groups of children start playing and waving them around.

This tool made weeding my 4x16 raised bed a breeze. Quickly loosens soils and pulls the whole weed out. Took all of 10 minutes to complete versus the normal hour I spend every few weeks
