Gonzo 5001 Dead-End Mole & Gopher Trap...

I've tried many different styles of Gopher traps in the past, some worked ok, some didn't. I was advised by a friend to try the Gonzo 5001 Gopher trap and I'm glad I did, caught 2 very quickly, well built for Coastside use as stainless steel is used in the making of this trap, no rust! Extremely happy with this product and might order a couple more. Absolutely a 5 star product that really works. Very satisfied customer.

Purchase this item half years ago there 3 gophers didnt even catch a single they just avoid this trap Nd come out next to it. Waste of my money

Not sure if it ate its way free or something else ate through it. Updated review. I caught one. It ate my wifes garden from below. I dug down where a plant disappeared and found a tunnel. I put the whole trap in the tunnel and covered the back and sides with dirt. I set the trip larch to the very edge and caught a big one the same day!

Ive eliminated 3 gophers in about 2 weeks. I started out hot, getting two the first few days. Then, the gopher(s) repeatedly just filled the entrance to the trap with dirt. It took me over a week to figure out what the issue was. I took a long screwdriver and pushed against the trigger gate inside from the front and discovered that it took a lot of force, relatively speaking, to set it off. So, I reset it with a hair trigger by inserting the trip bar hook only about 1/16 into the trigger. Bazinga! (Of note: If I had read the reviews more carefully, I wouldnt have had to figure the hair trigger thing out on my own.) Another point: It doesn't make any difference how the trigger is set if the gopher isn't drawn to the trap. The instructions with the trap rely on the gopher seeing light at the end of the tunnel and moving to close that tunnel entrance, presumably to keep gopher snakes (and such) out. If you aren't having luck with that and you have access to water, another way, which I learned from my neighbor, is to push the end of a hose into the hole and run some water down there. If the water pools up immediately, it's probably not an active hole. If the water doesnt pool up after a minute or so the gopher will detect the water and want to move to fix the leak. Place the loaded trap as usual, but then put a buckle over the trap so the gopher doesnt see the light. (Honestly, Im not sure why the bucket helps except that the gopher may not wait until night to act.)
