Bought to put on top of snow and they work perfectly for that. Somehow seeds stay in basket. Our only issue is squirrels come and sit inside them for hours, preventing birds from eating at all. But thats not the products fault :)

This worked great for my purposes. To put out seed for the squirrels. I had been using a terracotta plant tray but the squirrels dropped something on it from above and broke it! This is a great alternative. They love to put there little feet on it to brace themselves while eating. Quite cute.

I live in an older 2 story apartment building. I can scatter porch plants around my back door and that's nice as opposed to the gardens I've had in the past, where I also hung bird feeders. A cardinal recently began visiting my red geraniums. It was lovely and I missed my feeders. Could have hung one to the side, but would never get to see the birds. While looking at options on ZeeBooth, I saw this ground feeder - good price, looked good and seemed like it would do the trick. It has! Haven't seen my cardinal again yet, but a beautiful jay appeared yesterday! As word in the bird-world spreads, I expect more visitors.

There were several areas where the ends of the wire mesh were sticking out around the inside edge of the top metal (bird perch). I didn't read any other negative reviews, but felt this is worth pointing out (pun intended). I used a metal file to smooth the edges of the wire and bent over some that protruded out more. Otherwise the feeding was sturdy and I could imagine that it would last a long time. I'll probably notice some rusting now that in filing the sharp spots, it removed the black powder coating paint.

I purchased this ground feeder to see if the Crows that visit our garden would eat bird seed from it. I was putting out peanuts and bread, but wanted to be able to offer them some bird seed without tossing it on the ground. At first, they were a bit reluctant to use the ground feeder, but after a day or so, they became quite comfortable with it. Now I put nuts on one side and bird seed on the other. The feeder is a nice size and keeps the nuts and seeds dry and ready for the Crows morning visit. When they're done with their breakfast, the squirrels enjoy the leftovers. They have their own feeder, but squirrels are greedy little creatures. This ground feeder is sturdy, functional and fairly priced. I recommend you give it a try for ground feeding birds like Crows, Doves even Chickens.
