These bands are great. I went to buy "pre-made" bands and I was shocked that for the same price as this product you get 5 bands. You need proper cutting sheers to cut them to size. The over sized worm gear and band are very strong. The only down side is that the roll will unspool if you are not careful. It would be great if the spool was in some sort of dispenser that allowed you to pull out the length you need to cut without the whole spool of bands exploding like a Slinky.

This is a nice kit to make custom sized hose clamps, but there are some caveats. The set includes stainless strapping and 10 worm gears. The strapping is 1/2 wide, which is similar to radiator hose clamps I recently got at the local automotive store, but the base of the worm gears is considerably larger than a pre-made clamp. Thats likely to allow for customization, but also means the kit is better suited for making larger clamps (Id say > 2 in diameter). Smaller than that my guess is the clamp will hold, but not likely be water tight. The worm gears dont have a Phillips heads, but can be tightened with a 5/16 nut driver (optimal) or a flat head screw driver (always a pain). Cutting your own straps also leaves the potential for sharp edges, so be careful with that. Making a hose clamp is relatively simple, but no instructions are included. You can follow the instructions in the pictures provided in the product description. Its a decent deal for 10 of stainless strapping, but unless youre using 1 of strapping per clamp, youll likely run out of gears before you run out of strapping. I dont know if the strapping is compatible with other worm gears. Quality seems decent.

I had a repair to do on roof vent pipe that was not a regular size, my vent pipe had a slip joint fitting in the attic that kept coming loose due to the house settling and high winds causing rain to drain onto my ceiling, the pipe was under tension and out of alignment from the house shifting relative to the roof so I put 3 lengths of angle iron bracing around it and clamped with this "cut-to-length" banding....worked great and I didn't have to guess what size pre-made band clamps to buy.
