Wifi only

So this will only work if I lower my wifi to 2 ghz instead of the standard 5. I don't really feel like doing that for this device. It isn't worth the trouble. I wouldn't recommend.

Works with Home Assistant

I got this sensor connected to my Home Assistant setup with no problems, seems to be about as accurate as any of my other sensors. The price is super good for a no-name sensor. Under the battery, there looks to be a place to connect pins if you want to do some DIY tinkering.

This is a good product that performs well and shipped quickly. Problem being, Alexa does not work with most temperature and humidity sensors: it just shows the temperature. It's not the product's fault, the product is good, but Alexa just does a bad job. A+ product

Love the ability to check the temp and humidity of parts of our house when we are away to keep an eye on things. Was really easy to setup and get going with it.

Got this to monitor an egg incubator, as it was zigbee based and I generally prefer that protocol for automation. The device itself is pretty typical, though nice that it is AAA batteries instead of some disposable short lived coin battery like a lot of zigbee devices. The included instructions are pretty minimal and only cover using their app (which I have no intention of installing, thanksI am a cloud free home automation setup). Fortunately, it works like almost every other zigbee device and goes into pairing mode when you hold the reset button for a few seconds. With Home Assistants zigbee integration (Nortek HUSBZB-1 USB hub) in pairing mode, it immediately detected and setup the device. It recognized it and setup temperature and humidity sensors, plus battery and identity diagnostics as is standard on zigbee battery devices. Update rate seems to be every few minutes, though I cant tell if that is the device or the Home Assistant integrations choice. Thermal rate of change is not fast anyway, so sampling any faster wouldnt have much point. I moved it from a 75F location to a 90F location and it took about 10 minutes to fully register the change. Anyway, the device might have more options (the product page claims built in history) if I used their app, but the default Home Assistant support is good enough for me. I dont have a good feel for range or battery life yet, will update if either is an issue. The device goes into standby when it is not reading a sample, which should improve the battery life a lot but means you dont get a continuous update on connection strength etc (it looks offline, but isnt). Interestingly for the tinkerers out there, the devices serial pins are exposed in the battery compartment, so it might be possible to put custom firmware on this thing. Something to look at later.
