I'm not sure if I agree with the hundred pound weight rating on this, but it is a strong magnet and it does seem like it will hold a lot, 100 just seems a little bit unlikely to me. But no complaints whatsoever.

I am really impressed with these magnetic hooks. They look really nice, and very refined, just as pictured on the listing. Smooth, even brushed finish, no sharp edges, and they are SOLID and STRONG. I do not have the tools to accurately test their strength scientifically, but I recently did a grip strength test with a physical therapist, and my single hand grip strength measured very close to 100 pounds in that test, but I have been exercising since then, so my hands should be stronger now. Removing these magnets from a flat surface took pretty much all my hand strength. It is possible of course to slide them off of a surface with somewhat less effort, but their holding power is still very impressive. I tested both deflection strength and sliding the magnet off the surface by attaching it to the flat side of a very heavy duty pocket knife I own, and I was pleased to see that the magnets did not leave any scratches when I slid them off this surface. I'd still be cautious about attaching these to something like a refrigerator unless you never plan to move them around. This product is definitely suit to "set it and forget it" installation. The hook is well constructed, too. It definitely needs to be in order to stand up to the strength of the magnet. The hook screwed in easily, and it held up to my tests of prying the magnet off surfaces without missing a beat, still in perfect shape. And for the price listed (6.70 USD at the time I am writing this review), I think these are definitely a bargain.

The first thing I did when these arrived was attach them to the refrigerator. It was right there after all. I can move these around using just two fingers. There is obviously some amount of strength involved to do so, but I highly doubt that I am exerting 100 pounds of pressure. Mind you, I stuck these to the frig at a point a bit higher than my head, and to be fair I am pulling downwards. Even so, I am not hanging my body weight off of two fingers, I am moving these around by the combination of both finger and arm strength. These are still useful, and will hold a reasonable amount of weight. What is that weight exactly? Not sure, but another thing to consider is that these would have probably been more useful with hooks rather than eye bolts. Handy? Yes. Strong as advertised? No. Useful in the house or shop? Probably. One thing is certain, the price is not unreasonable.

These little puppies got some grip. When using them on the steel frame of my carport, it takes a considerable amount of effort to just move them. Removing them takes all I've got. The easier way is to slide the unit to the edge of steel until it can be tilted off. Still a chore. I use a lot of magnets in my shop; both rare earth and the regular fare. Generally, I order whatever crosses my path and reorder my favorites. These will be on the favorites, for sure. Sometimes, an eye is more applicable than a hook. I have plenty of hooks. These are my first eyes and I like them.
