I got rid of my old smoker and old grill and just bought a new grill, but I still wanted to smoke. So I got this smoke tube and filled it with hickory pellets and smoked a pork butt. It worked great. I tried using a click and flame to light it and that did not work well. Would not stay lit. So I used my propane torch to light the pellets. It makes the tube go red sometimes, but it does light the pellets. Once lit, they stayed lit till the pellets ran out after 3+ hours. There was some discoloring of the tube when I was done. I found putting the pellet tube in the front of the grill worked best, as the smoke flows over the meat and out the back of the grill. Pork butt had a nice smoke ring to it, about the same as when I used my previous smoker, maybe a bit less. The glove worked great while refilling the hot pellet tube, but I think I will get a 2nd tube to just have it ready to go, when the first one runs out. The glove is a nice extra, especially for the price, and it really handles the heat. I used another regular ovenmit once to grab the tube and almost immediately felt the heat. Overall, not quite as good as a pellet grill or a real smoker, but pretty darn close and a lot cheaper. This think really does turn any grill into a smoker.

The smoker tube is of solid design, well constructed and should last a long time. While the glove is shown as a mitt in the product description, we received a glove with fingers. We prefer the fingered glove. The fingers make it easier to grip items. We use it for handling the hot jars while canning and it gives a solid and safe grip on the heavy quart jars. I gave it 4 stars because of lack of lighting instructions for the smoker tube, no estimate of how long the smoke should last, and the glove design (fingers versus mitt) being not as advertised.

It is hard to notice from the pictures, but only one end of the tube has a cap. The other end is wide open. Filling the tube up with pellets will allow some to spill out the end unless you are extremely careful. On its own, this might have ordinarily warranted a rating of 3 or 4 stars. The tube seems well made, with the exception of no cap, so I probably would have given it 4 stars, but my biggest complaint is the fact that only one glove ships with the tube, even though a "pair" is referenced several times in the advertising. Using Mesquite pellets with my grill gives food a really nice flavor! Pellets are much easier to use than chunks, although the chunks probably give off a little more flavor. I also wish the tube had come with instructions. I loaded the tube with a lot of pellets and it smoked some, but then caught fire and burned very intensely. The next time I will put in far fewer pellets and let them cover the bottom of the tube, without filling it up. *** 7/27/22 The company reached out and apologized for the error in the description about the gloves. It does come with one, not two. By the way, it is pretty amazing how it allows you to actually pick up the smoldering tube with the glove without burning your hand. I'm not too sure I like smoking my food with pellets rather than chips. The pellets tend to burn too hot to make much smoke. I do like the tube, however and the next I cook on the grill I'm going to try and use the tube to smoke with Mesquite chips instead of pellets.
