I sprouted 3 batches of 10 or so each, then planted in peat with a cover so they wouldn't dry out. I was so happy but they never grew, IDK why. They weren't moldy or dry but the seedlings never came up. I will keep trying I guess and try sowing some directly in the garden but i don't have much hope. I would really like some California White Sage for my garden.

I ordered these seeds in 2019 right before my life got crazy hectic and I completely forgot about the seeds. I recently saw them, still in the shipping envelope, and decided I would try germinating them with the expectation that none would actually germinate. I know many herbs are difficult to germinate and knew white sage was particularly difficult. The package even "warns" that the germination rate will probably be low. Add to that my seed packet is now very old. It's been sitting in a basket in my livingroom for 3 years!! I added some seed starting mix with vermiculite to seedling grow bags, cut a strip of paper towel and then peeled the layers of paper towel apart to make it a single ply. Laid the single ply piece of paper towel on the seed starter mix and sprinkled a few seeds on the paper towel, misted it all from a spray bottle, sprinkled a very fine layer of seed starter on top and set it in a tray with my other seedling bags. I have a seedling heat mat under the tray set at 77 and they're under a plant light that with a 12 on/12 off timer. Anyway. After a couple days I saw green in the seedling bags! It's now been 12 days and there are quite a few seedlings! I'm absolutely amazed!! I highly recommend these seeds! If I got this many to germinate from 3 year old seeds I can only imagine what your results will be with fresh seeds!

I wanted to make this review because a lot of people where claiming this seeds didnt work. For reference I place more or less the same quantity of seeds for every type of sage 14 days ago in 4 inch nursery pots. As anyone can see the clary and purple sage have great germination rate and the others way lower as expected from Sage plants. I'm honestly surprised I got the white and black sage to germinate in my first try. This seeds where keep moist, and in direct sunlight during day and inside at night (where I leave currently is as high as 30 centigrades at day and as low as 2 centigrades at night) Maybe I have the ideal weather? I didnt do any special treatment to the seeds. Dont know why but these have work great for me. It is yet to see if I'm able to grow these to maturity but they are fertile seeds no doubt about it. Some plants have expected germination rates way below the 80-90s percetages we are use to and sage plants are one of those, nothing the company can do to change that.
