Catches the finer things

These are great to help catch sediment and cotton or other smaller things that was get past the skimmer. If you use them and a lot needs to caught or cleaned out it can create a problem though. I have had the pressure get too strong and the socks contribute to my skimmer baskets cracking. So if the pool is dirty, check them frequently. If its not, then once a day or every other day is ideal.

I know that these things are washable, but theyre so cheap that I just pull them out and throw them away without going through the massive trying to clean them out. They bugs leaves pollen pretty much anything thats floating through my skimmer, And I find I dont have to backwash my sand filter as often

It captures insects, pollen, seeds small blossom and stuff from the trees and just plain old dirt. You need a basket that does not have a handle which would prevent you from using a sock.
