I have not used the leaf skimmer, though as others have said, it is smaller than the mouth of other, more common skimmers. I have a pool robot, and most of the leaves on the surface end up caught in the side baskets anyway. I hardly ever use a manual leaf skimmer. That said, for me, the star of this kit is the brush!! I received this kit in November and have been using it regularly for about 3 months -- yes, here in the southern US, I do sweep the steps and ledges of my pool regularly, even during winter. The pool robot unfortunately doesn't climb the stairs sufficiently well to get the debris off. This brush with its side bristles does a fantastic job getting into the corners of the steps. Since the bristles are stiff it does take more effort to push than my old worn-out straight brush, but that's not a bad thing. I'm very pleased with this kit so far and will use it even more religiously during the spring and summer.

I needed a new pool net. I like the mesh part to be fine so it picks up everything. I thought this would be perfect but it really is to be used for leaves & larger debris that gets in the pool. It doesnt pick up insects & other small things that fall into the pool. Thats why I gave it 4 stars.

its a nice kit that has a brush and basket. Please note there is NOT a pole, so this isn't an all in one kit. the brush is a nice soft but sturdy brush, great for those with a plaster pool with soft edges. the basket is wide and has a sloped mouth great for scooping leaves before they end up in your filter or robot/pump. i was worried that it wouldn't fit the handle/pole i had, but it has 2 push buttons that help connect it to a pole its held up great so far!
